Sounds like the compass calibration may not have been done correctly. Or a loss of GPS
Headlock modes needs both of those to be accurate or you get some crazy behavior.
Also older firmware version can behave more erratically if either of those 2 things fail during flight.
Less than 6 satellites in the case of the GPS and the GPS wont get a lock.
Compass not calibrating. and it will be unstable, more so in headlock.
Many have had trouble getting to grips with head lock mode as all the controls are changed on the TX and depending on where the drone is facing and the controller(you) determines what stick direction does at any time.
This can be a difficult mode to understand and get your head around if you are used to manual control.
Make sure when you do compass calibration it is 4 flicks of the switch(on mine) with the throttle down and on the 4th flick it should be in the off position and you will have solid green showing.
do the turns 2-3 times.
Repeat same for next solid red will only show once it is held vertical.
2-3 turns then place on ground just as it was at the start.
4 flicks of Headlock will now save the calibration and you will see green LED solid for 1 second(blink and you will miss it) before it returns to the double flash green. this brief solid green is the only confirmation that it has saved.
Hope this help.
