1New problem- no signal from TX Empty New problem- no signal from TX Mon Jan 11, 2016 3:40 pm

I may have a junk unit here. New problem, after messing around with the quad last nite trying to reset the gyros which I never did get to work, I let it set till this morning and now I have no signal from my TX.
I hooked the quad up to my computer FC program via the USB and it shows no action from the TX on the main screen. Any way to reset this TX? I have pulled batteries, flipped the trim switch to left and turned on the TX and did that deal and nothing works.
I believe this has been my problem all along with getting the solid red light at start up.
Last nite I was getting flashing green at startup but now only solid red.
FC program shows that I am getting 11 to 13 satallites and all sensors seem to be working like they should, everything is moving around anyways.
Any ideas???

I agree the solid red at startup is what you get when the quad cant see the TX signal.
Still cant rule out the quad being a fault though as it could lie in the antenna or the RX unit inside.
But the TX would be a good place to start checking.
Apart from checking that the wiring and solder joints are all ok inside the TX I am not sure how to check for a signal being sent.
I will have a look around tonight and see if I can find a way to test that the TX is sending a signal or not.
If it is the TX and a fix cant be found then its a fairly cheap fix to get a replacement(cheeper than the quad at least).
One guy had traced his problem to a pinched wire in the TX, were the 2 half's are screwed together a wire had been trapped and when fixed all was ok again.
I may know someone who has a spare even, for sale.
Let me have a look and ill post back here.

Ok here are some links i am looking at to sort out whether its the TX of the controller the RX in the quad
Ill post them all there as i have not looked at them all, so have a look you may see something i haven't due to not knowing if you have the gear needed to test.

Dont know if any of this will figure a way to test

Thanks so much for the help. If I was close enough to you I would buy you a beer or two.
I am going to try some trouble shooting maybe later this week but if my TX is bad I might take you up on the used one. I see a receiver from Banggood is only $15 so I might just go ahead and get one. It is strange that last nite this thing worked and today it does not. I wonder if there is something in the FC program that I clicked on to cause the change.
Again, Thanks for all of the help, I want to fly this thing and am pretty frustrated at all of the trouble I am having.

Thats ok sand, I know how frustrated I would be if i had it sitting there and didnt know what to do next to get it flying again.
Think the cheap replacement TX sounds like a good idea as testing to see if a signal is being sent requires a receiver and servo that you know works...or something like a spectrum analyzer which wouldn't be impractical.
I hope it turns out to be this cheap fix for you.

PS just a thought you mentioned the ground-station.....If you accidentally save back to quad with the PWM setting, it would behave in this way also as it would not see the PPM signal from the TX, but as the fault was intermittent that's probably not the case.

Thanks

So this morning I decided to try this thing again. First battery plug in red solid light.
Moved it into the kitchen away from computer and stuff, pluged in and got green flashing light, YEEHAWW. Calibrated the gyros, got fast flashing green light-YES
Went outside, plugged in, got green flashing light, bound reciever, green flashing light, calibrate compass, green flashing light, all seemed OK. Went to start motors, NO start, hit auto take off, NO start, tried several more times, NO start.
Shut off TX, red light, ON TX red light.
Unplugged and plugged in 3 times and only get red light. WTF

I did update to the newest firmware a while ago but all was good after the update other than my original problem of trying to tip over at take off.

Thanks Don
Finally got it to run today, motors finally unlocked but two opposite motors ran at idle, other two set still until I gave it throttle, still tips over.
Tried it several times and finally got the same thing, green light motors won't unlock.
Now again all I get is the red light.
Am going to try to send it back to Gearbest and get a new one, don't know if they will take it back though.

Would be best to get a short video of the problem as they will ask for one before they will consider replacing it.

Finally got my 380 working as it should. I had ordered a new transmitter and receiver to see if one of those was the problem. Put batteries in the new TX and all works as it should. Flashing Green every time. I guess I have a spare receiver just in case. Took it out and made 5 flights with no problems.
Thanks for all the help here and especially M_Levitation as he took his time for back and forth emails. It's good to have a good group to go to with problems.

Thats great news buddy.
I was hoping that you would solve the problem, but was fearing the worst as I had not heard.
Was a cheap fix in the end then?
Whats really hard is diagnosing a fault, especially when you have limited bits to use testing. I think we tried pretty much everything.
Did you keep the files I had sent you on the 380 drive?
If you did....At least that theory would work for replacing lost or corrupted files. Very Happy
